Meaning of ex-officio
What is meant by the term Ex-Officio and when is a person designated as so.

Hi,
Say a person is or has been a member of the Central Council of say ICAI, then that person will be appointed as the ex-officio member of the prticular regional council of ICAI where he belongs.
It mainly implies being appointed to a positions by virtue of one's position or status in a higher authority.
