SFM Paper is Problem Oriented and need to Practice problems from any good book and not neglect theory.
yes its possible to prepare on own if you have the apetite for finance subject.

According to me coaching is recommended for SFM
And no doubt Sanjay Saraf sir is the best teacher for the subject

self study is the best way to do sfm
but subject to condition that u do it from rajesh makkar sir class notes
available for mere 400 Rupees
it is really great guide for sfm :)
