I have sold a house purchased during 2002 recently for 30 Lacs. The capital gain was 6 lacs. To get Capital Gain exemption whether I have to invest 30 lacs or 6 lacs to buy a new house. Regards

For the purpose of claiming exemption u/s 54, amount to invest is capital gain. In your case 6 lacs

For purpose of capital exemption you have to invest Rs. 6 lac not 30 lacs.

To get cg exemption u have to invest only the cg..
