You need not to file the return again..
Wat u should do.... is to take a copy of the return filed from your IT department for your reference..

Dear All
Simillary is my situation. I lsot the ack for my retutn for AY 2006-07 and IT department issued me notice for the same. I could not produce the same. I had refuund of 18,000/- for the year and I have not received the same. Now my question is whether I will get the refund.

mr madhav.....revised return can be filed u/s 139(5) only if there is an omission or wrong statement in original return.also revised return can be filed only if original return is filed within the time limits specified u/s 139(1).i.e.31st july/30th sept.also revised return can be filed at any time with 12 months from the ebd of relevant assessment year....also at the time of filing revised return, u need to quote ur acknowledgement no of original return........

Sir, u take your pan and approach the respective ward where the return is filed, Say the lost of ackn for the respective A.Y. if ur Pan No is said, The details of income filed will be shown and prior approval of ITO, take fresh Ackn for the lost A.Y & file it up. But its high risky. I am expressing my opinion.
