is it penalty for late filing of return by e-filing ? because i have filed the return yesterday night but the site is not responding hence my return is submitted late by 1st April,2008?

You have to pay penalty us 271F which is rs.5000

i stand aside you Mr. Maharishi. The site was not responding at all. Its really shame for Income Tax Department which fakely boasts of its achievements. Mr. Finance Minister should order CBDT for granting some relaxation due to undue inconvienence to the income tax assesses

I agree with Pariksh*t, we had genuine reason for non filing of e returns, ICAI and other forum should represnt the matter with FM

yes friends, the website was not responding for the complete day on 31.03.2008 which was totally unexpected resulting in great trouble in filing of returns. The matter should be take up by ICAI with the CBDT and FM.
