Well .... amongst the two i think kpmg is a better bet ..... the timings are pretty much the same time and you would have to stretch late nights ... but kpmg has a better work culture and students apparently get 20 days more for ca final as leave as opposed to pwc.......

Hi Shreya,
Don't bother about the firm..
both are nice..
Its upto you that what your approach is towards your work
all that sehe asked was PWC or KPMG,
@ all others except NAREN
please reply to the question
KPMG is better, better work culture and services offered.
as he said the time given for preparation.
DOnt bother about firm is absolute CRAP.
when ur a CA and into a job,
it plays a very very MAJOR criteria....
as you can get easily placed because of the reputation u get by working in the BIG 4,
FIrm doesn't matter, concentrate on ur studies are said by people who lack self confidence in clearing the CA exam...

Hey, i guess it good to join KPMG rather than PWC bcoz i hav friend who now wants to come out of water house as its lack flexiblity, long working hours, holiday problem, whereas the in other ther is lot of scope beyond Audit.. KPMG is much involved in consultancy and u would love it.............
Good Luck..................

Hi shreya,
This is brijesh narula,
see wat i wud suggest that you dont go in for big names, coz these big 4 firms will make you work as per there requirement and not as per ur convenience,
you wont be getting any time for ur studies and they will even send u on a lot of outstation assignments
after getting a rank in my pe2 i also wanted to go in 4 these big4s bt those of my frns working with them suggested me that big4 are the best place to be after qualifying ca-final and certainly not b4 dat.
currently i m working with grant thornton-delhi,
its d largest non-big4 firm, has all d advantages of big 4 bt limited disadvantages of the same,
i suggest u dont compromise on ur studies.
for any other help,u can contact me at brijesh.narula @ gmail.com

That depends on your work profile. So it is very hard to tell anything about it. but one thing is sure that in both cases it would not be easy to get transfer.
One fact that i can tell you is that KPMG is hiring few Article assistants.

Shreya if you want the truth, the truth is-"BIG4 DO NOT ALLOW TRANSFERS"
Until unless a partner of the firm is a very good friend or very good relative of yours who's ready to oblige you this much to give you articlehip transfer. Or else forget it.

I feel that transfers are possible now in the first year of CA articleship without any difficulty. The recent rule says, :"Transfer /termination of articles is permitted without any restriction during the first year of articles". Hence one can join any firm and seek transfer if he/she desires so in an year's time.
