Know Yourself better……..

A man caught an eagle - the kind among birds, proud and strong, large and beautiful. Since he did'nt know what to do with it, he put it in a henhouse. At first the chickens were afraid, but then hens and the cocks and even the small chicks got accustomed to their guest. The eagle, too became used to his new surroundings, and even to the chicken food, as he had nothing else to eat.

Then one day a visitor came to the man's house. He saw the eagle in the henhouse surrounded by the hens and said, "That bird is an eagle! How long has it been cooped up in that henhouse? You should take it out and let fly free. It is a crime for an eagle to be treated like a chicken !

"But this one has become quite tame like the hens. It even cackles like a hen".

"Impossible" said the visitor. "You can't make a hen out of an eagle. Let me show you, may I?"

"Go ahead", his host said. "You will see that I am right. It has become a hen, a frightened chicken."

The visitor carefully opened the henhouse door, took out the huge bird, set it on his wrist, lifted it into the air and said, "You are an eagle. You belong in the sky and not on the ground. Go and fly!"

The eagle looked around, clucked like a frightened chicken but did not move. Then the man turned the eagle into the light of the rising sun. The eagle looked at the sun, then suddenly spread its enormous wings, cried exultantly like an eagle and flew higher and higher into the sky, never to return again.

You are the eagle living in the henhouse, hemmed in, fenced in by all kinds of small things, fame, honour, greed, career hunting, regulations, rites and so on. You know that you are captive of all these things and not truly free. You know you were born for another type of life.

"THE TURNING POINT IN THIS STORY WAS THAT THE MAN TURNED THE BIRD INTO THE LIGHT OF THE RISING SUN. IT WAS THE SUN THAT MADE THE BIRD FREE. YOU CAN FILL IN FOR YOURSELF WHO THAT SUN IS. SEE THE LIGHT!"
