ITR3 Error in Schedule HP

Efiling 1820 views 10 replies

Do I need to fill Schedule HP even when there is no income or loss to be reported? I read on one of the replies on this website that it should be reported even though included amount values are nil.

I was filling ITR3 and when I fill the Schedule HP I get the following error:
Ownership of house is selected as co-owned house property but assessee's share and co-owner(s) share is not equal to 100 %. Kindly reverify the co ownership details and make sure co-owner's share and your share is equal to 100%

I have only entered property details and the co-owner's details along with percentage share (=50%). Rest the income and interest are nil.

Mail sent to efilingwebmanager @ incometax.gov.in is un-answered and I am stuck.

I would like to add that the mentioned error comes during validations when submitting the return online from the offline utility or trying to upload the json file online. The validations seems to pass in the offline utility itself. I haven't tried to start from scratch and fill via the online ITR3 option yet.

I don't think its necessary to fill HP... if its not filed yet try again after deleting the HP details

But for reporting purposes is it not mandatory to declare the self-occupied property, specially when there is a regulation which says we can declare at-most two properties as self-occupied?

I also saw an old query answered which touched upon this: https://www.caclubindia.com/experts/schedule-hp-house-property-in-itr-2-2749779.asp

It is necessary if you are deriving income or claiming any Loan expense...
else you can check again the details in schedule HP and find the error of property share

Facing the same issue, having more than 2 properties, co owner shares. Work around we tried with few files is that made the percentage share to 100% with rent income value divided in half.

I have also tried different workarounds such as entering 50.00 or 50.01 for the co-owners share, both still seem to fail. This validation error is documented in the CBDT_e-Filing_ITR_3_Validation_Rules_V_1.0.pdf document as validation number 156 in the category A section.

I have raised a grievance, planning to wait and watch for sometime.

same problem of house property -> co-owners total share % 50%+50%. still showing errors.ITR3

I believe this issue has been resolved. I was able to file my return successfully.

Still the problem persists in my case. tried to file via clear tax as well as offline utility. both cases JSON passes validation but can't file the ITR.
Also tried by filling up the details in online ITR 3. But got same error.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mine was resolved long time back. Have to take then latest utility? What is the exact error?
