You can now file the income tax return based on the notice you have received. You can contact some CA to help the same.

Your reason has to be genuine that you can backup with proofs later. For them most reasons are useless as they deal with thousands of such cases and any reason will sound repetitive for them. Enough time is given to file a return so they are sending compliance notice. Time if over to file so you cannot file now. Work out the reason, see what information they have given, have they picked up info from AIR?

You need a CA who will go AO of your wardand follow up. You need to search a CA in your Area only.

Before paniking, plz let us know whether there was any taxable income for that year. If there was no such income, a simple reply to the AO stating the reason would suffice.
