For individuals [not subject to tax audit provisions under Income-tax Act, 1961 ('the Act')], the income tax return (ITR) filing deadline for Financial Year (FY) 2020-21 (Assessment Year 2021-22) has been extended from 31 July, 2021 to 30 September, 2021 owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
As the due date is approaching, it is important to file the income tax return (ITR) before September 30, 2021. Before filing the ITR for the Assessment Year 2021-22, let us understand if the retirement benefits like Provident Fund and Gratuity are taxable or not

Demand for Excel utility on new portal is being made since June 2021 but there maybe a particular lobby that might not want the excel utilities to get launched on new portal. Excels are easy to fill and enter and any Tom, Dick or Harry can enter data, save and upload. Excel utility is also the brainchild of the previous UPA government and the current elected government might not want to walk on the same footsteps. So they are taking everyone of us to the moon.

If we study carefully the Json format of ITR, they have made the return like filling up the answers of questions 1 by 1 which is made easy for even layman to fill up. I think the Govt wants the common man to prepare the ITR on thier own and reduce the importance of Professionals like Tax Consultants, CAs.

No, that is wrong interpretation. The teeth for eating are different from what are being shown to the outside world. There was no need to bring a new tax portal like this when the older was working fine and could have improved by cutting down on schedules that have been added and ever increasing. There is no need to have Schedule 112A line by line entry.
And why they should ask taxpayer to fill return in JSON form by Schedules and Provisions of the Act when the average taxpayer never knows any section of the Act?
