Issue of duplicate pan card

hi i have lost some time ago my pan card which is issued by deptt 8 yrs back. so deptt letter issued along with pan is not available. this pan i have used in some places like on bank, LIC etc. i have applied recently a new pan card and that new one is received by me recently. a letter is also issued along with this new pan card mentioned here allotting more than once pan card liable to penalty or punishment or both. so i am worried after knowing this what i can do now. i have a duplicate(Xerox) copy of old pan card along with FIR copy filled on that time. pls suggest.

Surrender new PAN. AND TAKE old DUPLICATE pan card . You will get old pan detail from bank. Online also you can know your pan. Type on Google - know your pan. Don't do any transaction with new pan. Otherwise you will be in problem. Dont do it yourself . Officers will put you in trouble. Hire a Ca , and tell him to do the need full. He will have to meet the jurisdictional Officer and write representations to the department for cancellation of new pan. DONT DO ANY TRANSACTION WITH NEW PAN.
