An advocate running a consultancy firm (where he/she provides various services, like Tax, BOA, Legal Counselling etc.., and the turnover is less than 9 lakh, is he/she liable to register and pay service tax in this case.

According to my knowledge this service got covered under the reverse charge mechanism just wen the govt came out with the negative list...so he may not be required to get registered...u may refer to the negative list in order to get more details..!!!

Services offered by advocates are covered under the reverse charge mechanism. Hence, irrespective of the turnover of the advocate, he neither has to register under the service tax nor has to collect and pay such tax.
