WELL recently I have joined mazars for articleship. Its only been 2 days . i always wanted to join a big firm where i could get good exposure . in these 2 days when i talked to my colleagues they told me that all the seniors ( ca + mangers , in our team) are very very bad. Bad in sense they are very short tempered . there are actually 4 teams here and the team in which i am, most sux..their head is always scolding the articles but i will have maximuim to learn in this team . i have seen articles getting  scolded by our seniors and managers badly even on small mistake !! i thought in a big firm they would be talking with respect but here they talk in hindi (while scolding ) like tere samaj ni ati kya..maine bola tha naa..kaam kyun ni kiya .bewkoof

is it common in any big firm ?? how do i deal with this..since now i haven't been scolded badly by my parents or anyone..i am too sensitive.i would seriously cry if they scold me like that and is doing statutory audit tough ?? what should i do if i dont want to get scolded?

It Depends laksay.Everyone isnt the same ,if u think u r tough guy & can take all this as routine continue ur articles there..Whether scolding is common or not, should nt be ur part of question. The Question Rather Should be Whether u ve a mind set to face it or  nt.Don compare urself wit other artcles ,all r nt same.

if u ve the mind set to face it continue else option is always open for transfer in First year. But matter of Fact Articleship is a tough time for every one & very important as well.

Lakshay,

First of all, don't ever believe until you have experienced it. Situations depend on people's perceptions.

Nobody like to downgrade people just when you are working, its just that sometimes the pressure is very high that people tend to lose control of themselves. You should not be thinking about these things when you start to work, your aim always should be to make them happy because of your work and gain as much as possible from them.

If you think that the cons are more than pros, then you may quit the firm. All depends on your way of looking at things.

I wish you all the best for your life.

dnt b afraid of scolding just listen and forget the things..d imp thing is "DNT COMMIT D SAME MISTAKES 4 WAT U HAVE BEEN SCOLDED"

hmm,,your innocence is very touching bro..Coming to the point,  see it is not common thing in many big firms and all..Secondly, If you get scolded for your fault, try to rectify it. If you are getting scolded on account of any jealousy or callous or ego attitude of your seniours, dont take it serious, Let those stupid people shout and waste their energy. I cant say that doing audit is tough and all cos it depends on the organisation you audit and their internal controls and accounts system. In order to avoid getting scolded, try to make the most of your seniors, audit managers and principals. even if they are losers(attitude wise), you try to praise and flatter them(without their knowledge ofcourse) at each and every instant. Make friendly relation(or atleast pretend to have friendly relation) with each and every person in higher authority over u in ur office. Approach them with sincere doubts (not silly doubts) as and when possible and when they are available without any ego or prejudice, you can handle any difficult situation. All the Best

dont take it personally because in articleship u r not lakshay but just an another article for firm

try to remember our teachers and parents they also scolded us for our wrong deeds and because of that scolding only we can today differentiate between right and wrong

but still there is a code of conduct in the corporate world which every one has to follow be a senior or an amateur no one can call u bewakoof

next time u come across such situation you can talk to ur senior in private alone and requesthim that if he wants to tellu about ur mistake he can do so in a decent manner

See it depends on how big your mistake is and how much you have been scolded........." tujhe samajh nahi aata" and stuff is ok and should be taken in your stride.

But not like totally trashing you when they know that your are new.....but its a dirty world and you must learn to take it in ur stride

Also as many have said you must keep your seniors also in good spirits as they are the one's who will teach you when you go out for audit and not CA's...

I have been scolded, fired for small mistakes by my CA..........but there is no recourse as you have to complete 3yrs and have to learn the practical part...

when i opened this page first of all i seen your name, and your name which itself gives the inspiration to all of us. You know what if someone is scolding for any reason then its ok, as that mistake will not be committed for any further, but if for no reason we get scolded then just think of your aim. Don't bother in such things and just listen to your heart. Always do remember one thing "In every second every moment life plays a game & we are the part of each game, it depends on us that how better we play our own game:. I hope you get your doubt cleared.

When you joined the course CA, then one thing do remember that the word "Tough" is no more exists in CA student dictionary, cauz it is we who select which is easy or which is more easy.

I would like to tell you one thing. There will be some people who are short tempered everywhere. The same is the case with the CA Firms.
