I want to buy items online and then resale the item through my own business sites.
do I need to take registration as e commerce operator or simple retail seller.

If You are selling Goods Purchased in your own through online from your website, than you are not required to take e-commerce Registration.
Just take Normal Registration as " Taxpayer"
