Is GST filing mandatory even if we have registered for GST?

Rules 249 views 5 replies

Hi there!

We have a registered private limited firm which is currently having a turnover of less than Rs. 10 lakhs annually. As per the rules, we are not required to take GST registration but certain of our clients/service providers insist that they require GSTIN.

If we have a turnover of less than Rs. 10 lakhs and a GST registration, does it become mandatory for us to file GST every month?

Regards,

Rahul

Yes once you take registered then its mandatory to file return even if business is not running

All registered businesses have to file monthly, quarterly and/or annual GST Returns based on the type of business. All these GST filings online happen on the GST portal.

A return is a document containing details of income which a taxpayer is required to file with the tax administrative authorities. This is used by tax authorities to calculate tax liability.

Under GST, a registered dealer has to file GST returns that include:

  • Purchases
  • Sales
  • Output GST (On sales)
  • Input tax credit (GST paid on purchases)

To file GST returns or GST filing, GST compliant sales and purchase invoices are required. You can generate GST compliant invoices for free on ClearTax BillBook.

If u are registered you have to file it

If you have registered GST then filing GST returns is mandatory

It is mandatory for every registered taxpayer to file GST Return. ... The taxpayer may receive a notice from the GST Department for non-filing of returns to which an appropriate response needs to be submitted. The taxpayer cannot apply for the cancellation of registration if he does not file all the returns.

We provide a GST Registration,  Let us know, If you need to register for the same
