Can we start numbering invoices from 1 for next financial year or do we need to continue the invoice numbering of current financial year?

Yes you can start numbering from 1 in next year. Condition is that for each year you can not raise invoice twice.

you can also continue the same invoice numbering but it should be a unique serial number of a particular financial year not to be repeated in the same financial year
