Expecting maximum return in 1 year time horizon is a bit too much irrespective of your risk profile.
However, you may opt for short term income funds of mutual funds which invest is bonds and fixed income securites, but please do keep in mind that the average duration of underlying securities should be around 1 year and not much longer to avoid any surprise. Going by the current interst rate trend, you can expect a reasonably good return relative to other investment avenues of similar time bucket.
Hope this solves your query.
