Interest on fd from nre account

A person was non resident till last year. This year he becomes Resident but Not Ordinarily Resident. He still holds the NRE account. Interest on Such interest in NRE account is exempt. From the NRE Account he has placed FDs and earns interest on it, which gets credit backto NRE account. Is the Interest on FD also exempt? Please provide links.

Taxfree in the hands of NRI and RNOR, but for ROR the account is to be closed or changed to normal account.
