Dear Members
Most of us are aware that the documents being filed by various companies with ROC / MCA is considered as a public document and made available for inspection by any public upon payment of the prescribed fees. Any public can also obtain a certified copy of the document / enclosures on paying the prescribed fees and stamp duty as required.
Earlier we used to scan the entire annual accounts in pdf format and attach the same with Form 23AC / 23ACA and file the same with ROC / MCA. Now certain companies have been mandated to file their annual accounts in XML format (XBRL format) for year ended 31st March 2011. Accordingly these companies will attach their annual accounts in XML format with Form 23AC XBRL.
My question is how the public can inspect such documents which are filed in XML format. Has the government or MCA provided any tool in their website to view the annual accounts which would be in XML format. If the tool is not provided then how a layman can inspect and read such documents. Does this not deprive us of a right granted to the public under the company law.
