Assemble :

It is a process of preparing a machine language from a program written in symbolic coding by substituting absolute operation codes for symbolic operation codes and absolute or re-locatable address for symbolic adresses.

ITD 14 

Assembler :

Computer program that assembles programs written in symbolic coding to produce machine languge program. 

ITD 15 

Asynchronous Communication :

It is a transmission system in which the speed of operation is not related to any frequency in the system to which it is connected. Each character transmitted in this mode of communication is preceded by a start signal and succeeded by a stop signal. It is very slow.

Audit Trail :

Records maintained to show the time the data stored and trace the output from input data or vice-versa.

ITD 17 

Auto Correct :

It is a unique frature of MS Word, which contain a list of commonlu mistyped words and the correct spelling, and the word with which the mistyped word, should be replaced. The auto correct dictionary can also be customized.

Auto Dial :

It is an automatic dialing facility available on many telephones and communication device in which a telephone number can be stored into the memory of dialing telephone, and by pressing single key, the instrument will automatically redial that number.

Automatic Teller Machine

Specialised form of point of sale terminal that are designed for the unattended use by a customer of a financial institution.

ITD 20

Auxilliary Storage 

It is also called secondary storage. It supplements primary storage of system. The storage capacity is larger but access is slower when compared to primary storage.
