Income tax return for ay 2015-16

Can i file IT return for AY 2015-16 before 31-03-2016,and u/s which section i have to file.

As per sec 139(4) , Any person who has not furnished a return within the time allowed to him under section 139 (1), or within the time allowed under a notice issued under sub-section (1) of section 142, may furnish the return for any previous year at any time before the expiry of one year from the end of the relevant assessment year or before the completion of the assessment, whichever is earlier

you can file return for the A.Y.2015-2016 before 31/03/2016 under sec 139(4)

You can surely file return for AY 2015-16 u/s 139(4). It can be filed within 1year from the end of relevant Assessment Year. Thus you are allowed to file on or before 31/03/2017. ( For AY 2015-16). The same section is ammended recently to reduce the time limit. Thus from AY 2017-18 onwards the last date upto which you can file return is upto the end of relevant assessment year. Also, you need to keep in mind that the same cannot be revised. Since the return filed within due date mentioned u/s 139(1) can only be revised. Thanks CA Fenil Doshi Fenil Doshi & Co.
