Income Tax Return Asst.Year 2009-2010

I had not filed my return for the Asst.Year 2009-2010. Suppose If now I shall file then what is the penalty to me. Pls advice me. What I do.

Hi Mahendra If you have taxable income for the Ay 2009-10 Than your due date of filling the return U/s 139(1) was 31st july 2010

if u not able file this return than you r liable for your tax liability + interest U/s 234A which is 1% per month till 31st Mar 2010 +Penalty U/s 271F which is 5000/-.....

othervise if you not have taxable income than u can file return till 31st march 2011 ....nd no any interest and penalty is levied for assessment

So as per your reply for the Asst Year 2009-2010 F.Y.31.03.2009 last return filing date is 31.03.2010 if I have tax liability otherwise NIL return I can file upto 31st March 2011.
