hi vikas actually i forgot that whether i have filed my itr for a particular a.y. or not? can i write to a.o. for that?

i think this query is for vikas only?
still what i want to say is you can online check whether you have filed the returns or not. and if not able to do that you can write letter to A.O

If returns are filed manually than you can write to A.O.
