Hello all,
I am a salaried professional with only bank interest income in addition to my salary. For FY2018-19 while filing my tax returns I inadvertently used the wrong TAN of my bank as a result IT dept could not recognize the interest income and wrongly issued a refund to me on the advance tax I had paid.
As per my understanding from the income tax filing web-site, now I need to file a rectification request which involves downloading the revised excel spreadsheet and filling it all over again just to correct one clerical error. Can someone please suggest if there is a more efficient way to fix the issue. Additionally how do i pay back the wrongly issued refund (e.g. self assessment/advance tax, etc.)
Many thanks.
