in which category of income tax liability, the educational/social welfare society (ngo) comes under and what are the income tax rates. please help me. Is the audit of accounts necessary for these organisations?

Audits are required but not tax audits. Its a compulsory audit for getting exemptions on voluntary donations recd. 10 B report form. See in Taxmann Book ,your problem will be solved.
