Currently i am living/working in chennai and i file my tax return from chennai.
While filing the ITR form , do i need to mention my local address in chennai under the "personal info" field or can I provide my permanent address of mumbai. I will be filing the the tax return in chennai.

Well Josh, you could give your Mumbai address since you have quoted that it is your permanent address. Also since the info that you give is for communicaton purposes, it s better if its a permanent place of residence. Hope that helps!

You will have a hard time convincing the IT people to accept your return if you quote Mumbai address, assuming you want to file the return in the old fashioned way. On the other hand, if you want to file your return electronically, better to quote your Mumbai address since that is your permanent address.
