If i pay Income Tax Demand just to reduce the penal interest ( for non-payment ) piling up even though I do not agree with the Demand, can I contest the Demand ( after paying it ) and Appeal against the Demand ?

No. Better appeal first by payment of just 20% of mismatch.

Not a case of rectification ...its a TDS case ...employer deducted TDS from my salary but didnt deposit to Govt ...ITax Deptt raised demand against me ..
My CA didnt file Appeal within 30 days of receiving the notice. Very old case ..still Demand showing in my name ..
