Whether we have to show the Income from previous employer in Form-16 issued by current employer?

Income from Previous Employer

2,00,000

Income from Current Employer

1,00,000

Total Income

3,00,000

If to be shown in which line of Form-16?

Salary from previous employer is not required to be shown in your Form 16. It is only to be considered for the purpose of arriving at the amount of TDS to be deducted.

The concerned employer will show it in his computation of income while filing his Return of income

Hi

In this case, there would be some issues:

  • If we consider income from previous employer, we should include the same in part of emoluments paid and the same can be reflected as 'Previous Employement salary u/s 17 (1)'
  • Since we would consider income tax deducted by previous employer, now only balance tax would required to be deducted by current employer.
  • However, the question how to report total tax deducted (current employer and previous employer)
  • There is no provision for reporting tax deducted by previous employer as shown in form 12 B in form 16.
