We get what we deserve - Swami Vivekananda.
To get more out of everything we have to make ourselves more deserving because we cannot get more or less than what we deserve.
I believe that no one from the other courses is taking advantage as such. There are a whole lot of skillsets which CAs do not have.
CAs are not all rounders, nobody is.
In my experience in the India Inc, this is what I have observed in the CA community -
On passing the CA exam, the candidate starts feeling superior to everyone else. A lot of ego is seen. Further, there is no interest in further knowledge enhancing, reading and research, their attitude is that the degree is there and nothing else is required. They have a feeling that on getting this CA degree, now it is the time to enjoy, have fun. These statements apply to people from other courses as well. The real challenege according to me comes on becoming a CA, and thats something which many CAs possible understand but do not realise.
I put it this way -
If one is into the due course of learning professional swimming, he has to ensure that he swims perfectly in a 5-20 feet swimming pool. This stage is that of clearing all the exams.
One doing that, the comfort zone of that person would be swimming in the 5-20 feet swimming pool. However, to be a great swimmer, to do something out of the box, to achieve something which is way above average, this person will have to get out of his comfort zone, jump from 2-3 floors, jump in the sea, in the river and show the world his passion for swimming. He must show the world and himself that he has the ability to come out of his comfort zone and stay there consistently.
However, in my experience, the new CAs are quite reluctant to come out of their comfort zones. When we all know that our course doesn't teach us leadership, management, emotional intelligence, networking etc, which are the most important and basic skill sets required to succeed....we need to work on it. More than the knowledge, formal education, degrees and intelligences, attitude matters. Emotional intelligence contributes 80% to success, the share of IQ is less than or equal to 20%.
How many students/qualified people take the initiative for reducing this gap between CAs and others? I think we all got to come out of our comfort zones.
