import of software

Sir,

We have initiated remittance to our UK supplier against purchase of software (downloadable)

 Our Bankers have kept this remittance on hold saying Purchase of downloadable software is treated as import, hence Bill of Entry (BOE) received from the vendor need to be submitted.

 OR (If not received)

To submit a covering letter to the Banker stating the purchase of downloadable software will be intimated to central excise department shortly & meanwhile Intimate Central Excise by letter duly certified by Chartered Accountant.

 Kindly advise us to proceed further to avoid any statutory/legal issues in future.
