practice or employment it is compulsory for all.

Yes it is compulsory. Without GMCS certificate you cannot apply for membership. Without membership you cannot hold COP So it is compulsory at this date.

if u want to go for practise you must have membership no. icai will issue membership no if u have completed gmcs

yes all are right here. GMCS is part of ca qualifiaction such as articleship.
