Hi,
I have unclaimed dividends from very old paper shares dating back to 1988. No dividend has been claimed - since the bank accounts associated with it were closed after 1 year - due to transfer - and company was not informed - thus unclaimed.
I understand that as per rules, any unclaimed dividend needs to be deposited into the IEPF by the companies, after 7 years of no claim.
Can I now claim the dividends that were issued against my shares between 1988 & 2007? (since dividends given after 2007 are yet to complete 7 years, and perhaps claimable...). If yes, then who will facilitate the claim? Transfer Agent (Like Karvy, Datamatics etc.) - Will IEPF return the dividend? - afterall... "protection" is in their name.
