Hello members

can anyone please provide a complete procedural and documentation required to apply for the Import Export Code.

This is how I submitted / applied just recently!

List of Documents and Procedure for a Ltd. Company:

1) Covering Letter, on the official letterhead of the Company.
2) Filled up application form ANF 1 & ANF 2A (Part A, B & D).
3) Part B of ANF 2A on the Bank's letterhead with the photograph signed + stamped and identified by the banker.
4) Director's signature on all the pages of the appliction form, except Part B of ANF 2A.
5) Demand Draft of Rs.250/- in favour of JDGFT YourCity. Confirm from their office once.
6) Self attested PAN copy (both sides) along with PAN allotment letter.
7) True copy of the Board Resolution for applying for IEC.
8) True copy of MoA, AoA and the Certificate of Incorporation.
9) Self addressed envelope with a stamp of Rs.30/-.
10) All the above documents to be placed in a (white) file and submitted.

CERTIFIED TRUE COPY OF THE RESOLUTION PASSED AT THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF COMPANY NAME HELD AT THE REGISTERED OFFICE OF THE COMPANY AT ADDRESS ON DATE AT TIME.

“RESOLVED THAT Mr. , Director be and is hereby authorised to apply for Importer-Exporter Code Number to the Joint Director of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and to do all such acts, deeds and things and to sign all such papers and documents as may be necessary in this connection.”

This is how I submitted, on the Company's letterhead. They only wanted all the documents that I've listed in my previous post, nothing else!

thnk u avinash, u specified about form ANF1 and ANF2A , i got the format of ANF 2A but didn't find any ANF1 . Cud u plz forward , if u have the same

PS: They also wanted 3 more spare photos in addition to the 1 on the application ANF 2A and 1 on the Bank Certificate.

Got the complete chklist on the IEC. However ANF1 needn't be given at the time of application for the code.

Well, even I had prepared my documents as per the checklists available on this website. But at the Bangalore JDGFT Office, they were very particular about three things:

1) A White file - they didn't bother to see my application / documents until I had them in a white file.

2) Three more similar photos in addition to the two (1 on ANF 2A and another on Bank Certificate).

3) ANF 1. I had to return back and fill up the form ANF 1. They didn't accept my file without that form. However, considering that almost all the fields on that form were Not Applicable, I wonder why they need that form at the time of application.

Please keep us posted if they insisted on the ANF1 at your place / time of submission.

DEAR SIR,

(IEC), IMPORT EXPORT CODE IS MANDATORY FOR EXPORTER AND IMPORTER FOR STARTED ANY BUSINESS OF SAID .

PAN CARD , (INDIVIDUAL IN CASE OF PROPRIETOR)

BEFORE OPENED A CURRENT ACCOUNT BEFORE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FIRM , COMPANY, AND IF YOU TAKEN THE OFFICE IN RENT, THE COPY OF RENT AGREEMENT, A COPY OF ELECTRICITY BILL, OR TELEPHONE BILL IS MANDATORY.

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS

A-Applying for new IEC number- Kindly fill Part A, B & D of this application form

1. One copy of the application must be submitted.

2. Each individual page of the application has to be signed by the applicant.

3. Application must be accompanied by documents as per details given below:

I) Demand Draft of Rs.1000 evidencing payment of application fee in favor of the concerned regional office of DGFT. Money can also be paid through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).

II) Certificate from the Banker of the applicant firm in the specified format

III) Self certified copy of Permanent Account Number (PAN) issued by Income Tax Authorities.

IV) Two copies of passport size photographs of the applicant

V) Photograph on the banker’s certificate should be attested by the banker of the applicant.

VI) Self addressed envelope and stamp of Rs.30.

VII) These documents may be kept secured in a file cover.

The above documents may be sent by post or hand delivered at the concerned regional DGFT office.

B-Applying for modification of existing IEC number- Kindly fill Part A, C & D of this application form

1. Only one copy of the application should be submitted.

2. Each individual page of the application has to be signed by the applicant.

3. Application must be accompanied by documents as per details given below:

A-Documentary Proof :

a. In case of Proprietorship firms, please furnish

i. Date of Birth of individual

ii. Number of IECs held along with their details

b. In case of Companies, please furnish

Date of incorporation

c. In case of others

Date of formation

B-Demand Draft details evidencing payment of application fee in terms of Appendix 21B. (No fee is payable for modification/amendment if such application is made in 60 days. Otherwise, a fee of Rs.200 may be paid in form of demand draft. No fee is required for inclusion of PAN no. in the old IEC.

4. Original copy of existing IEC.
