Kindly guide about the syllabus for IDT in Nov 11 exams.
I would want to know the applicability of Finance Act 2011 on the syllabus, and the date upto which the amendments and notifications in the acts would be applicable.
I want to purchase a new book for the same, so should I get it now or a later edition.

Whatever may be the attempt. All notifications, changes, circulars, cases upto six months before exam date will be applicable.
If your attempt is Nov 2011, then all changes upto May end will be applicable. So wait until may exams get over because all the authors will incorporate this question paper and will print. Better buy the book in june.

TO say simply ............
for every may attempt, amendments, circulars, notifications and case laws issued upto 31st oct of previous year are applicable
for every november attempt, upto 30th apr of that year.....
Regarding case laws past one case laws are most important for attempt..... for eg. may 2011 attempt case laws between nov 2009 to oct 2010 are most important.........

However I am still in doubt of the applicability of Finance Act, 2011. It is applicable wef 1.4.11 but has not been passed yet. So will it be applicable?
What has been the trend in earlier exams, whether that year's Budget is included in Nov exams?

@ Ankit: Thankfully there are no changes in Accounting Standards.
As far as SAS are concerned, 6 SAS are applicable wef 1 April, 2011, and thus would be part of the syllabus. You can find them in ICAI newsletter (may edition), and also on icai website as list of publications relevant for nov 11.
I do not know about any revisions in existing SAS. If anyone does, kindly let us know.

@ Nancy: only 28 specified services are applicable for exams and not all the 117 services as per the act . Refer Board of Studies Announcement dt. 18/11/2010 . Hope this helps.
