Main book is SM. But to have clarity of concepts/technical matters, Dinesh Madan Sir's book is very good. Becoz you cannot remember if you don't understand. However you cannot write ans from Madan Sir's book as the language is very different from SM. Same with Manish Walecha - useful for some concepts & mnemonics. But if we construct our own mnemonics, it is both fun & easy & creative. Spoonfeeding mnemonics is kind of shameful for students at this level. Both the reference books are popular among student fraternity.SM is still indispensable though. Making your own notes in an easy to remember & revise manner from SM is timeconsuming but that is what rankers do & is a sure way to score more. Also, when you include PM, RTPs & Scanner, then you get to study the various ways in which a question is worded & ques appearing to be similar but having entirely different answers.

Dont waste your time in writing your own notes, study material is time consuming ...
Better refer Manish Valechha + PM (Best combination to get 60-70+ easily). MV is the best selling book for ISCA.

Dear ANINDYA CHOUDHURY,
Would like to suggest that
-- If you have exam in May 2017 --> Then go for reference book for ISCA + Practice Manual
-- If you have exam May 2017 onwards --> Then prepare your own notes and revise as mush as you can.
In my exam times, i prepared my notes on ISCA and able to crack it very well. ( Score was 68)..In case you need any help or clarifications in respect of isca you can conatct me through www.dcacademy.co.in or at akhil.dcacademy @ gmail.com
All the Best.

Sir,
Each chapter in ISCA has 40 - 60 topics & sub topics, total 8 chapters, so say total 400 ques. They say, in exam question can come from anywhere.Still, is there a way to guess which topics are imp from exam point of view so that study workload is reduced. Is PM - small version of SM enough to score good? Further, many people say that 60% - 70% students who fail in final is because of ISCA. Is this true? What is the source of this information? It may likely be true though.

Dear Amol,
It is true that most of the students are not able to clear CA due to ISCA. They may score high/good marks in other subjects but fail in ISCA. The main problem in clearing ISCA is thinking that ISCA is a technical subjects and is not related to CA at all. Such type of mind set for ISCA results in less interest in this subject and ultimately leads to failure in this subject.
Now coming to your point of important topics in ISCA, there is no fixed pattern in ISCA. institute can pick anything from the institute module. As such, it is always suggested to read from module only. There are numerous books availabe in market for ISCA but refer that book which constitute language of institute module.
Now, my suggestion:
If Exams in May 2017 : Refer to practice manual ( assuming that you have started studeying ISCA by now).
If Exams May 17 onwards : Study from Insitute Module and prepare self notes. Then at exam time, do PM as many times as you can.
