Disclaimer: All the presidents of ICAI have done some good work as well bungled off some(I can’t be sure of good work by Uttam Aggarwal). This is to expose and bring in to light some of the “timepass” scheme brought in by ICAI and in “jhaansa” of this some students have fallen victims.
A few years ago; ICAI made affiliations with 2 universities: IGNOU and NSOU. They said that “pass cpt,pcc and 3 years of articleship”;and pass 6 easy papers and get a “sub-standard” bcom degree. That was the case of IGNOU. NSOU ki toh baat hi chhodo. NSOU or Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Open University has been blacklisted by AICTE for non-recognition by DEC, a govt. body to regulate distance learning. That event happened over a year ago and ICAI hasn’t notified its students till now. That proves that they don’t care a damn about students’ career; all they want is to ensure that the articles “serve” their swami well just like “ram-doot hanuman”.
IGNOU is the oldest and the most recognized correspondence in the nation(I can’t vouch for its value though) and even its system of granting degree to CA students in it is messy.
a) The assignments which one has to submit before appearing for exams is not updated.
b) The syllabus is outdated.(I think their syllabus hasn’t been changed since 1996)
c) The results come late.
d) No co-operation from IGNOU authorities.
e) After clearing all pcc,articleship,itt,etc; the procedure to get degree is not even stated.Howzzat!
Passing CA may not be impossible but it isn’t easy either. Many students drop out of it. Just consider a person’s career who gave 4 years to this course , couldn’t clear it; and now doesn’t have a decent degree either. I don’t we can have a job with a bcom from ignou or with pcc. We can be a accountant with 2500pm salary at a dingy room in some building at the suburbs of a city.
And the ICAI has banned transfer; as well as rejecting form 112 of many students who have applied for LLB during night hours.
Each time they do some tie-ups with some funny institutions ; they pump their chests like a proud rooster/cock and splash their website with the “breaking” news as if they have achieved tie-up with Wharton School of Business.
Previously before the introduction of ipcc scheme; ignou used to make ads like “in 3 years do CA and get a bcom(a&f) from us”. Now with ipcc; agar koi pagal kutta bhi katey; koi bhi yeh bogus bcom join nahi karegaa. So now they have changed their ads,” Get Mcom within 1 year after you clear CA”. How dumb, isn’t it? If one has passed CA, why would anyone do mcom from ignou.
Waise bhi ignou takk chaltaa hai; heaven knows what kind of maharaja/neta/swami sort of colleges have they done tie-up with. There might be some money involved. Now we all can see how ICAI is serious about competing the value of CA with that of MBA from elite institutions.
See, the ones making all this big speeches at icai functions are already established in their careers. They have a flourishing practice; on income(black or white) they get elected to the council. “Most” of them use them to further their clientele; their sphere of influence; the thing that might come in their mind is to “deliver a tender of catering to GMCS students” to the son of their old,wafaadar servant.The last thing will be welfare for students; even if they have time to think about that.
And if he hasn't completed 3 years of articleship; then no degree as well.
If anyone has joined this sort of programme; he will be compelled to fulfil his articleship. This was ICAI's conspiracy to make students majboor to complete his articleship.
