At the same time, I agree with Punit as well.

Punit, the reason why you are not able to see what you are looking for is the poor leadership of ICAI. If you read the open letter to ICAI president written by our past president Mr. Sunil Talati and the recent events of booth capturing etc, you will realise that some wrong people are in the leadership of ICAI and many characterless people have become members of ICAI.

When such things happen, it is very obvious that there will be a downfall.

CBDT AND ICAI Are separate bodies.Income tax laws are not made by ICAI or any CAs.ICAI is just following Direct tax laws.I think icai's role is very much limited within the framework of its members, students, and creation of new AS,ASS,and many other guidelines too.ICAI really helping in nation's development but it is CBDT have the ultimate power over Direct tax laws.

I would like to know the reason why CBDT denied that...

ICAI can only give suggestions which may or may not be accepted by CBDT...

Respected Maheshwariji....i truly agree with what u said...bt m not done yet

CBDT could have changed the due date considering that CA's r facing a lot of problem...!

but why it didn't...??

again i agree that govt has accepted the AS, AAS of ICAI but tell me how much involvement ICAI has in the implementation of IFRS...i think very less....

my next question -  how many members does CBDT have so that it is considered mastermind above ICAI ( which has members in Lakhs)...?
