Best thing is that if you know someone in income tax ward or might be your sir knows then ..he will tells the date by checking in his system.

The Date of Formation of HUF could be the Date of Death of Karta of Previous generation

TAKE THE FIRST DATE OF THE FINANCIAL YEAR RELEVANT TO THE ASSESSMENT YEAR WHEN THE FIRST TAX RETURN UNDER HUF WAS FILED OR IS TO BE FILED ....e.g. TAKE 01-04-2008 AS THE DATE OF CREATION O F THE HUF IF THE RETURN UNDER QUESTION IS THE FIRST TAX RETURN AND THE RELEVANT ASSESSMENT YEAR IS 2009-10.....IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE THEN SEARCH FOR THE FIRST TAX RETURN OF THE HUF AND TAKE THE BEGNING OF THE FINANCIAL YEAR AS THE DATE OF CREATION OF THE HUF ....
THE ABOVE PREMISE IS BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT IN YOUR CASE THERE DOES NOT EXIST A HUF DEED.

for ancestral HUF, date can be 01-01-0001 where the date of creation is not available
