Hra tax exemption without agreement and receipt.

Dear All,

Please tell me what is the amount limited to House Rent Allowance under income tax computation on salary if there is not agreement and receipt.

Kindly suggest.

If there is no agreement or receipt, then exemption for HRA u/s 10(13A) cannot be availed as there is no supporting document in respect of rent paid.

hello soumya as per latest amendment in union budget there is
no need to furnish pan of owner if he/she furnish declaration that his income is not chargeable to tax as his taxable income is within basic threshold limit.Arranging rent receipt is not a big issue but in reality they donot furnish PAN to be supplied in case rent is more than 1 lac p.a.(8333 pm).Hra can be claimed by showing 4 quartefly receipt.agreement is required in case rent is more than 15k pm.
