Do we get exemption of hostel rent paid under hra?

i think u can get....
bcs the provision say about payments in respect of rent paid by u....it does not classify that where rent were paid..

Ritika, you do get the exemption of HOSTEL RENT paid. But, mind it, if you are paying any non-eligible expense under HOSTEL RENT., that would be disallowed. Like, if you pay food expenses to your tenant as a part of rent, that would be excluded...

Yes, it can be claimed for as HRA exempiton.

you can get the exemption provided hra have been fully utilized for the purpose of hostel rent. . .and unsued hra or hra provided used for any other purposes will be taxed to that extent. .
