29 May 2010Friends, X pays rent his wife Y, who also a happens to be the owner of the property. The property in question was constructed by availing home loan. Y gets deduction on repayment of interest/principle of the home loan.
The doubt is whether X can claim HRA deduction in his income on the rentals paid to his wife X. Thanks and Regards

X can't claim deduction of HRA for the rent paid to his wife.
But if the payment was made to X's brother or his parents then he could have claimed the HRA deductions.

I think X can Claim, if he is making actually payment
