I went through all your notes very helpful indeed.
But down to basics please elaborate on the following:(based on for an average person)
1. How much time should we devote for the various papers ? (please explain regards to every individual paper)
2. The appropriate order of taking up subjects. like say Accounts > DT > Law as goes on
3. I have tution notes of top teachers ( though grossly incomplete) and the institute study material only.
Since I am nowhere now, when should I buy reference books (textbooks/compilers/padhukas )? Do i have time for them ?
You guys have hell-a-lot of experience please take out some time from your busy schedule and help me out ? |

1.There is no fixed time as such.It is a very subjective thing.Take the maximum time to understand concepts of the toughest paper you feel or perceive.
2. Order too is subjective, here again go for the thing which you fear the most first.Try to finish the Problem subjects fast(Accs,MAFA,Costing),so that you can start practicing problems, while munching on the theory subjects (DT,IDT,MICS,etc.)confidently.Also theory papers like DT,IDT though containign problems are more based on understanding of sections and thus take it after you finish the 3 problem subjects. They are also suseptible to last-minute changes, amendments.
3. The biggest trap of students in this course and the reaosn for superb failures, frustrations is the multiplicity of notes! Students seem to be in a frenetic pace to accumulate notes--ICAI Study material, tuition notes, reference books....
However, buy one std.reference book for each subject.Keep revising from that alone, again and again. This will make your brain connections(Myleian nerves) strong and you will remember more in exam.Experiments in Licester University have proven than students worldwide in any course waste 33% of time in reading the same material from different notes.
The feeling of panic is understandable but it is unnecessary and acts as a detriment to your prep.
ICAI study materials can be reserved for the last to look into except for MICS.
Start with standard reference books.
Buy Direct Taxes,Indirect Taxes later after the changes, amendments, notifications, etc have come into the new edition. You can wait a bit there. You may meanwhile attend classes for these 2 subjects.(Normally I dont advice anyone to attend too many classes, just a couple is fine).
Prepare your own notes, WHICH ALONE you should revise in the last moment multiple times.
Your own notes should be carefully organized and collated. You may also mark important areas for last minute revision in your notes, with a high-lighter mark.
YOU HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME.YOU NEED NOT GET PARANOID.
IN CA: The paranoid do not survive.
Just take it cool and study on the lines, guided by me above. You will even find yourself in the top ten ranks(provided you do multiple revisions of all subjects).
Your fears are misplaced,though genuine.
Best of Luck,
Mythreya
