How to remit back original refund while submitting REVISED ITR

287 views 4 replies

I received a tax refund  of aroun INR 13000 after filing tax using ITR-1 form for AY 2016-17. Later I found I have not included certain interest from FD. I created a revised ITR- I and seeing I have to pay around INR 6000 Tax.

But previously I had got INR13000 as refund from the original ITR-1 that  I filed within the due date.   I am not able to see how to enter the INR 13000 refund in the revised  ITR-1 form and add to the new tax payable amount of INR 6000.  I have to make a total payment of 13000+ 6000 = 19000, Can you please help me in guiding how to  do this ? Regards., Suresh

In revise return, ITR 1, fill all the income, salary, interest etc., and let the software calculate the tax liability itself. You may import data based on PAN, Any TDS deducted or other taxes paid will get automatically imported. You don't add any tax liability to be paid, software itself will suggest for tax liability. Check if its as per your calculation.

If yes, you got it.

If no, pay self assessment tax as per your calculation, wait for about week to reflect it in 26AS, and then file the return. (Let it suggest refund)

Thanks much Mr. Dhirajlal,

My revised ITR-1 is giving the tax due correctly and even previously there was no issue with that.

My question was about  how to  remit back  the original refund that I got when I first submitted the ITR-1.

If sum up the refund (x)  that I got  and the tax payable (y) from the revised ITR-1,  and pay  the total ( x+y)  as self assessment tax, will that make sense ?

Regards,

Suresh

If your actual tax liability is (x+y), then it will surely make sense.

Thanks Mr. Dhirajlal ., I have made the self assessment tax for the revised ITR and paid it through challan 280.

Suresh
