My client has received notice from IT dept for not filing the returns for the AY 2011-12.
He wants to file it now. But when i uploaded the returns it says "period for this ITR is over"
Kindly advice me regarding this.
One more client had not filed the returns of 2008-09 and 2009-10.But he filed other returns.He wants to file it now.What is the procedure?

Dear Janki,
your client has to pay penalty u/s 271F for failure to file Income tax return as required by section 139 before the end of the relevant Assessment year of Rs. 5000/-. in your case for 2011-12 Income tax Department will not accept return for that particular year because it is time baring, your client can file now his return for A.Y. 2012-13 and 2013-14. for A>Y> 2012-2013 the last date will be 31st march 2014.

Dera janki,
Penalty u/s 271F is not leviable if your client proves that there was reasonable causes for failure.
