Five tips for a top interview

  • Be prepared
Learn as much as you can about Ernst & Young, who we are, our services and our strategic direction. Make sure you can articulate how your strengths and career goals align with ours, and why you think you’ll succeed in our organisation.

  • Be proactive
Prepare a list of questions to ask your interviewer(s) so you can assess whether Ernst & Young is the right place to launch your career. Ask us questions about our organisation, our clients, the opportunities we can offer you and what you can expect from us.

  • Be yourself
Try to relax and remember that we’re interested in the real you. When preparing, it’s helpful to think about how you’d like to communicate certain points but avoid over-rehearsing, as it may come across as impersonal.

  • Be professional
Take pride in your presentation. We will be looking for professionalism in how you dress, how you speak and what you tell us about yourself.

  • Be punctual
Arrive at least five minutes early and if – for reasons out of your control – you’re running late, call your interviewer and explain why

Hi Sadhvi,

I m having experience with one of the Big 4 but it was for job not for articlship.

You are right they ask lot of questions about practical n theory, thing is that they want to see your confidence, knowledge and spontaneousness. They know that you are IPCC student and u dont hav practical knowledge they throw questions only to check you confidence.

One incident i want to share here, they asked me about AS-3 first question i answered but in second question they confuse me by  my ans only, then after two minutes i replied i will refer book, then the interviewer smiled n said to me no You hav to refer AS Book.See they just want to listen that in crtical situation when my knowledge is not working I hav to refer book.

So dont take tension.

And if possible do your articleship in Big 4 or any other good firm, you will hav a very good experience.

All The Best Dear.

In any interview, the key is to be yourself. It is not expected that you know everything. How you react to situations and problems is the key.

Just be yourself...

Hey guys, just cool down.....

I also face interview in Big4 and got selected in the last campus placement programme held by ICAI..(E & Y)......

They always check,

1. Your Maturity level.(45% Weight)

2. Knowledge and understanding about the subject matter (30% weight).

3. Communication skills (10% Weight).

4. Other factor, such as ur experience (15% weight).

So, may b u have knowledge but dont have any practical experience, if that is the case, then dont need to be afraid and nervous.......prepared for the interview........concept about the subject matter shuld be clear......they always ask questions from ur answers........

For eg. they ask me about AS-28, and keep me asking on this AS from my every reply and went to indepth.....

Hey sadhvi........... See one thing i wana make clear....... Don think much about many things and get confused........... Just read what all u feel is important........... Generally in Big firms they'll widely ask question about AS , Auditing , Tax and other things........... Of course practical knowledge will come handy....... But only that doesn matter............ U need to be strong academic concepts...... Orelse u'll not even be aware as to wt is happening in yr client office....... So just read what u feel like......... Life is simple yer......... Cheers............ Keep smiling........
