Upto Rs. 100000/- including LIC Premium, PPF, investments in bonds, etc.

Mr. Balaji,
The principal amount can be claimed as deduction u/s 80C upto Rs.1,00,000/-. In your case Rs.50,000/- can be claimed.
Interest component cant be claimed u/s 80C. it can be deducted u/s 24 (b) upto Rs.1,50,000/-. You can claim Rs.10,000/- under sec. 24 (b).

agar housing loan joint name se hai to 80c main both 1-1lac ka claim kar sakte hai. aur 24b ke liye both 1.50-1.50 lacs ke liye claim kar sakte hai.lekin house loan ka repayment joint karna pareda.
