1. Holding period of an asset is considered to determine whether an asset is a long term or short term capital assets. Generally for shares holding period will be 12 months to be considered as short term. If it is held for more than 12 months then it will be considered as long term capital assets.
2. For determination of holding period, date of acquisition and the prior date on which the asset is sold should be considered.
3. In your case, it would have been 365 days or 12 months. The condition is that it should have been more than 12 months. Looking at the case from that angle it will not be considered as the Long term and thus it will be short term.
Please correct me if the above interpretation has an alternative view.
