i studied from ajay jain for tax and gautam sethi for cost in my june attempt......

Tax Laws--Girish Ahuja (for theory) & V.K. Singhania for practical problems Buy new books for reference only.

For the costing Paduka is best
For the Income tax concentrate on the service tax and Vat part, because it carry more marks and it is less lengthy.

Dear friend, For Cost, Padhuka is easy to understand. N for Tax i think T.N.Manoharan's is the best.
