Well thats a difficult one...
But I think you need to get good reference books on all the four subjects..
Considering the time of 6 months for exam preparation... its going to be challenging for you to learn from various books .. but hey, Nothings impossible and Its always worth it..
But i gotta tell you .. Out of Syllabus questions are a rarity in CPT.. but it does happen.. But not more than 5 to 10 questions.. You dont have to go that deep for CPT but if your aiming for 1st rank then its logical and yes, necessary too..
I Wish You all the very Best ..

Refer : /forum/ca-cpt-exam-books-198777.asp#.UDsIx8HiZ5s there are some recommendations on the above link.. But i cannot guarentee the usefulness of those books..
For Mercantile Law, i think you dont need to refer any other books because the institute material contains everything we need to know... but still you can refer the bear act of the 3 laws.. although i found only the Indian contract act's bear act to be useful.
