HCL Technologies steals show with 10% jump on bourses after Q4 nos

 

MUMBAI: Software service provider HCL Technologiestoday surged by nearly 10 per cent on the BSE bolstered by 33 per cent jump in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2011. 

After a strong start, the scrip carried on the momentum and accelerated by 9.93 per cent to close the day at Rs 522.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). In intra-day, the scrip spurted by 10.58 per cent to touch a 52-week high of Rs 525.95. 

Boosted by the better-than-expected numbers, investors flocked the company's counter on the National Stock Exchange as well, where it jumped by 10.16 per cent to finish the day at Rs 524.95. 

"HCL Tech was the star performer in today's session after posting strong quarterly numbers," IIFL Head of Research (India Private Clients) Amar Ambani said. 

In terms of volume, over 80 lakh shares of the company changed hands on the bourses. 

The HCL Tech's board has proposed a dividend of Rs 2 for the third quarter on the face value of Rs 2 each. 

Industry peer Tata Consultancy Services' shares also rose by 4.63 per cent to close the trade at Rs 1,218.80 on hopes of posting a strong set of numbers tomorrow. 

Meanwhile, the BSE broader Sens*x finished the day higher by 349.15 points at 19,470.98.
